| Director's Message |
The NACE Foundation was created in 2002 to ensure that corrosion technology and science engages and excites students—and future corrosion control professionals—the way many formal engineering disciplines do in most universities. The Foundation is focused on K-12 and university students, and since its inception has awarded many scholarships, internships and other awards to students, as well as becoming a major contributor to the ASM camps for science teachers by designing and implementing a corrosion experiment kit for teachers. The Foundation is supported through the volunteer efforts of hundreds of NACE members, including the NACE Foundation Board. The wide array of funding sources for the Foundation—from the Board members, to hundreds of individual NACE members annually, to funds endowed by groups such as NACE past presidents and private companies, to major donations by companies like Mesa, Tinker & Rasor, and Carboline, are a testament to the value of supporting corrosion education in K-12 and university forums. This year we are anticipating continued quick growth in our scholarship and internship programs, and we are planning new events and fundraising efforts to financially support these programs. We look forward to the challenge—since there is no greater reward than to receive thank you letters from students explaining the importance of this program in their lives! Thank you for your support, Helena Seelinger Director |
