Sandia Mountain Section Academic Scholarship

This scholarship was created to recognize outstanding students in the San Juan Basin who are interested in pursuing a career in the field of corrosion science and engineering.  We recognize that students pursuing corrosion, science or engineering education programs today are our potential corrosion industry experts of tomorrow!

This year, the NACE Foundation will award the following on behalf of the NACE Sandia Mountain Section:

  • One (1) academic scholarship in the amount of $2,500 (undergraduate)

1. Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must be enrolled full time in an undergraduate program at an accredited, degree-granting college or university located in one of the two oil and natural gas producing U.S. states that make up the San Juan Basin. These two states are respectively: Colorado and New Mexico;
     
  • Applicants must be pursuing a career in the sciences and/or engineering or other majors relating to corrosion or corrosion control. Scholarship winners shall have a serious interest in full-time professional employment in the corrosion industry upon graduation and shall show promise of a productive future as a technically trained professional;
     
  • Graduate and post-doctorate students are not eligibl

2. Candidate Evaluation
The following information should be included for review by the Selection Committee:

  • One copy of completed application;
  • Academic transcript, including description of grading system for student performance;
  • Two recommendations from educators or employers familiar with applicants background;
  • Individual profile statement of 500 words or less, describing career plans, leadership roles, reports on special projects, work experience, and community involvement;
  • Description of past/current/future research plans (Graduate students, in particular, should describe their research project, focusing on their role)
  • Personal profile statement of 500 words or less, describing career plans, leadership roles, reports on special projects, work experience, and community involvement

3. Application Guidelines
