The NACE Foundation provides Book Scholarships to assist graduate students in the development of their corrosion libraries. This scholarship is given in the form of a credit to be used on-line in the NACE Bookstore.
This year, the NACE Foundation awarded (3) three Book Scholarships, in the amount of $1,000 each, to the following students:
- Jie Gao, University of Rochester (not pictured)
- Shokrollah Hassani, University of Tulsa
- Tatiana Reyes, Colorado School of Mines
The scholarships were awarded at CORROSION 2011 in Houston, Texas on Wednesday, March 16, 2011.
Submission for 2012 scholarships will begin September 1, 2011.
1. Eligibility Requirements
- Applicant must be enrolled full time in a graduate program engaged in science and/or engineering related to the study of corrosion or corrosion control at an accredited college or university.
- Both North American (Northern, Eastern, Central, and Western Areas designated by NACE) and International (Europe, West Asia/Africa, East Asia/Pacific Rim, Latin America) students are eligible to apply.
- Post-doctorate students are not eligible.
2. Candidate Evaluation
The following information should be included for review by the Selection Committee:
- One copy of completed application;
- Academic transcript, including description of grading system for student performance;
- Two recommendations from educators or employers familiar with applicants background;
- Individual profile statement of 500 words or less, describing career plans, leadership roles,
professional activities, reports on special projects, work experience and community involvement
