The Melvin J. Schiff Fellowship Fund was established in 2001, by the family, friends and associates of Mel Schiff, to honor his contributions to the corrosion control community. This scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student, professional or technician, in the United States, who is interested in furthering his or her knowledge of corrosion and corrosion control.
This year, the NACE Foundation will award the following on behalf of the NACE Los Angeles Section and MJ Schiff and Associates:
- One (1) Melvin J. Schiff Fellowship award in the
amount of $1,000
1. Eligibility Requirements
- Applicants must be a permanent resident of the United States;
- Scholarship is open to any professional, technician or full/part-time student (currently enrolled at an accredited college or university);
- Applicant must demonstrate an interest in furthering his/her knowledge of corrosion and corrosion control
2. Candidate Evaluation The following information should be included for review by the Selection Committee:
- Essay on why the scholarship is needed and how the funds will be utilized. Essay should be no longer than one page, double-spaced, and include name, address, phone number, and e-mail address;
- Two recommendations from educators, colleagues, or employers familiar with the applicants background;
- Academic transcript, including description of grading system for student performance (applicable to students only)
Possible uses of the scholarship can include taking a corrosion course or attending a regional, national or international conference or seminar.
