1 Process Overview
1.1 The monetary value and number of each academic scholarship available will be determined by the NACE Foundation by September 1 each year prior to the annual conference.
1.2 The NACE Foundation will assemble a Selection Committee for each scholarship and award offered.
1.3 Upon receipt of the applications, and after passage of the deadline, NACE Foundation staff will send applications to Selection Committee members for review. The Selection Committee will discuss applicants and select a recipient based on the number of available scholarships and the quality of the applicants.
1.4 One alternate recipient may be chosen in the event the recipient later becomes ineligible.
2 Selection Criteria
2.1 The following criteria will be assessed by the Selection Committee during application review:
- Academic record, including a description of the school's grading system for student performance to assist evaluators
- Professional and personal activities
- Detailed work experience particularly if related to corrosion work and activities
- Description of past/current/future research plans
- Personal profile statement
- Two letters of recommendation from educators or employers with whom the applicant has worked
