Workforce Development

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

In an effort to address the growing workforce need in the corrosion field, the NACE Foundation has adopted “Workforce Development” as one of its premiere programs. The first phase of this program will focus on military veterans and their families and will include both job training and placement assistance.

The program consists of the following activities:
  • NACE Foundation will provide a Mentor for each candidate. Mentor will perform the following duties:

    • Counsel candidate on career options within the corrosion industry and discuss training options available through NACE.
    • Provide ideas and avenues for networking for the candidate to better his/her knowledge and understanding of the industry and introduce candidate to peers and other key individuals.

  •  NACE Foundation will provide scholarships to attend certain NACE courses (Basic Corrosion Course, CIP and CP), including travel and meal expenses.

  • Once training is complete, the NACE Foundation will assist candidate and mentor with securing either a paid internship or permanent employment that will further enhance the candidates experience and industry knowledge.
While it is the expectation of the NACE Foundation to provide every possible service to each candidate, the NACE Foundation is in no way making a guarantee of employment upon completion of the Workforce Development Program. It is ultimately the responsibility of each candidate to use the training, opportunities, tools and information provided to secure employment.

  • Candidates will be notified in writing once accepted into program.
PROGRAM DISMISSAL
  • The NACE Foundation reserves the right to dismiss any candidate from the Workforce Development Program, at their discretion, at any point during training.

  • All accepted candidates are required to attend training courses from start to finish, according to the dates and times given on the course roster.

  • If, at any time during training, a candidate fails to meet the require scores necessary to pass a training course, the candidate will be dismissed from the program.

  • If, at any time during training, a candidate is caught cheating on a written or practical exam, the candidate will be immediately dismissed from the program.
The NACE Foundation realizes that there are many agencies that assist the military on a temporary basis when they leave the service, but a plan needs to be in place that will help them sustain themselves after receiving the temporary assistance. A recession proof career in corrosion is one dynamic way in which to sustain a healthy and vibrant lifestyle.
