Board of Directors - R. Winston Revie
President, NACE Foundation of Canada
R. Winston Revie brings to NACE more than 40 years experience in corrosion research and development, including six years as a full-time graduate student, immersed in corrosion-related projects and courses. He also has 29 years experience in Canadian government, working primarily on industry-related corrosion R & D projects, first as a technical contributor and project leader, and then as a program manager for all CANMET projects in the pipeline area.
Along with a good understanding of government-industry relations, Revie brings to the NACE board his 32 years experience as a NACE member. He currently serves as NACE International Northern Area Director for the 2006-2009 term. Previous NACE posts include Trustee, Canadian National Capital Section (1998-2000); Vice Chair, Northern Area (2002-2004); and Chair, Northern Area (2004-2006). He has also been a member of Group Committee T-1 and of committees within that group, including Stepwise Cracking of Pipeline Steels. Revie has delivered countless oral presentations on corrosion and has been published on the topic an equally staggering number of times. He currently works as Program Manager, Infrastructure Reliability for CANMET Materials Technology Laboratory. Revie obtained his Bachelor of Engineering in Metallurgical Engineering from McGill University in Montreal (1966); Master of Engineering (Materials) Rennselear Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York (1968); and Doctor of Philosophy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Massachusetts (1972). He did postdoctoral research at The Flinders University of South Australia and at The Australian National University before returning to Canada in 1977.
