Carlos Palacios has been a member of NACE for 20 years. In 1991 he was the founder and president of the Venezuelan Corrosion Association - Eastern Chapter and in 2008 he was re-elected its President and also elected Vice-President of NACE International Venezuela Section.

He has over twenty (20) years of field, practical and theoretical experience working in the oil and gas upstream production industry focusing on internal and external corrosion management. Dr. Palacios has worked nearly every discipline throughout the oil and gas upstream industry from reservoir analysis, production modeling, completions, stimulation, flow assurance, facilities design and corrosion mitigation. Having worked for several major operating companies Dr. Palacios has specialized in the development and implementation of all encompassing mechanical integrity systems for the upstream oil and gas industry, providing corrosion mitigation consulting engineering services to organizations world wide.

Currently he is the President and a Corrosion Specialist for CIMA-TQ, a Consultant Engineering Company dedicated to Corrosion Control, Monitoring, Mechanical Integrity and Chemical Treatment.
